Monday Night Awesomeness!

Mondays are always tough. Ask anyone, and they'll tell you that Mondays are their least favorite day of the week. And you know why... You're clamoring to get used to your work week schedule again. You're juggling kids, and babysitters, and bills that are due. And then you're having to plan every aspect of the next four days before the glorious, carefree weekend hits. Mondays are hard.

But I had a great Monday! I got home from work and knew that my legs were begging for a long ride. I felt strong and rested, despite having a 22.5 mile hilly ride under my belt from Saturday, and also riding Friday.

I no more than got home and inside the door and was begging the husband to hit the road with me. He was in agreement. We wolfed down ate dinner, chatted & snuggled with Cole for awhile, and got ready to hit the road!

I'm fairly certain I was ready in record time!
(I wearing a Starter breathable tee, Aero Tech cycling shorts, and Merrell Pace Gloves!)

I could feel that hubby was as excited to get back out there as I was. He said he felt rested--- and that meant we were going to be flyin'! (I love speed!) Like me, he is recovering faster and is always looking for a chance to get both of us back out on the road. I love him for that! Cole fuels my cycling addiction; Nathan encourages it!

So, below are our ride stats and map. We ended up putting in just over 21 miles in about an hour and a half. The elevation changes were very minimal; something like 230 ft climbing or something. And the ride itself was pretty much ideal. The wind was NASTY for the first half of our ride, but it worked out in our favor coming back in, so that made it worth it. (On the first downhill on County Hwy Y, I normally hit 28-30 mph coming out of the curves on the decline, but I topped out at 26.5 mph ---and I had to help my speedy girl along to get to that speed!) Anyway, there were wild animals out all over. It was 64 degrees and comfortable. And the sun was setting. We are very blessed to live in a rural area with beautiful, rolling countryside and fresh air!

Here is what my bike computer said about things:

21.5 miles. 14 mph average speed. 26.5 mph max. Time 1:31.

And this was the aftermath:

Very thirsty. Very sweaty. Very good! (And by the way, I don't apologize for my sweatiness or lack of makeup/hair after a hard workout. It comes with the territory. And it is what is is, right?)

Monday turned out AWESOME! We were happy with our averages and with the ride itself. Maybe Monday night rides will make a reappearance? I hope so!

Oh, and by the way, I almost brought home four more curious dogs! (Read my last blog if you're wondering what I'm talking about.) They weren't so friendly as the last dog though. The hounds resorted to growling and barking while they tried to catch us. Down low, too slow, pooches!!!!

In other news:

None of my shoes fit, because my feet are shrinking. Sweet Jesus... Couldn't weight loss take my backside first?! Or my child bearing hips?! Nope.... Feets. Chest. Legs. *sigh*

I am wearing clothes out of my closet that I haven't worn in years---and it feels AMAZING!

My muscles hold water like it's nobody's business after long rides.

I can piggy back Cole with no issue for long distances. He's about a hundred pounds or so.

I can sit on hubby's lap without killing him---which just might be my favorite new thing to do!

Do you have a favorite day to workout? Do you skip Mondays?

I have a love/hate relationship with Mondays. I hate them for all the normal reasons that you listed. But I love them because Monday is the one day a week that we have the boys. Getting to spend time with them trumps any grumpy-Monday feelings. I don't usually work out, but do try to run around with them for activity. :)

And you look AWESOME!!

Mondays are tough - but I usually make them a rest day since I do my long runs on Sundays. It's nice to not be overwhelmed by life, work, AND a big workout on a Monday :)
