BOOM!!!
Yeah, that photo isn't pretty. (I've seen drunken munchkins with comb overs look better...) But it isn't meant to be! No makeup. Sweat covered. Talking as he snapped the photo. (And what kind of an angle is that anyway?!) But I was on my bike for the first time since fall-which is AWESOME! I busted out 35 minutes of hardcore riding (read: standing 50% of the time) and called it quits. No sense overdoing it the first time back in the saddle, right?
And now for a little ridiculousness...
Cole was watching me hoping I'd fall off so he could laugh at me as I rode this out in the living room. At one point he walked over and said, "Mom, why are you standing?" I said back to him, "Because I'm hill climbing. Why?" He says, "Last time I checked, there are no hills in the living room. And I'm trying to watch Phineus and Ferb, so could you climb a little quieter? It sounds like you're being chased by a rapid baboon.".... Because clearly rabid baboons live in my living room. In the hills...
As I mentioned, we picked up the part for the trainer this weekend from Sheboygan Bicycle Company, who is a dealer for Trek. Trek is made locally in Wisconsin and is a great bicycle company, as you probably know. I read a Trek 1000c and she has been very, very good to me the last year! Anywho, they hooked me up---and I'm even more appreciative after yesterday's ride!
As far as my knee, it held up for the workout, however it's swollen today and was pretty sore last night. It's not pain; it's pressure inside the joint. I'm going to try not to fall off ride again in a little while and will be mindful of how I'm feeling. Easy does it...
Have you ever noticed that when you're working out, you're much more mindful of what you're shoving into your face hole eating? I mean, the last week I've really curbed my bad eating. But yesterday it was like I was totally back in training mode... Unsweetened tea three times a day. Complex Carbs for breakfast. Protein for lunch. Lots of colorful foods for dinner. Hydrate. Hydrate. Hydrate. No soda. No simple sugar. Easy on the caffeine stimulants. It's like I revert right back into training mode... It's good and bad. The dramatic change drives my family crazy (as it's the dead of winter and the human body naturally wants carbs to stay warm), but it slims my waste line, makes me feel good, and allows me to sleep better at night, so it's a win for me.
I've been spending the day dreaming of long rides on the open road. It's snowing again today, so that time is in future, but thinking about the wind at my back and sun on my shoulders settled into the saddle on an open road puts me in a good mood....
What are you looking forward to? Do you eat differently when you're working out?

I eat better when working out too because I dont want to un-do what good I did sweating my bum off!!! congrats to you for getting back on top of it! :)
I'm definitely more mindful of what I eat when I'm working out.
1. Eating too much makes working out painful
2. I need good fuel for my workouts
3. I don't want to waste my workout :)
I love Phineas and Ferb. Great job with your workout. I'm a firm believer that looking red and sweaty after a workout is BEAUTIFUL.
Lol! love your son comment...my little boy told me something similar when I was on the elliptical and he was watching tv...its so hard to breathe quietly when working out!
