Work It; Work it REAL good!

So, it has been a bat shit crazy whirlwind week! As I speak I'm sitting in a hospital room with my son Cole waiting for him to head down to surgery to remove his chest port- which is a line from his chest, directly into his heart, where he got his chemo & blood. Do you know what that means? It means he's DONE! Done with cancer and DONE with that line! And so life is moving forward... Finally... Yay! (Times a million!)

In other news...

Last week I kick started my new goals and took myself to the gym for the first time post-injury. I have to admit: I had some serious reservations! The 'what-if's set in and I was a neurotic mess for the thirty minutes before my workout. "What if you're not fit enough? What if you can't do it anymore? What if your muscles have atrophied and you're turning into a chicken nugget loving zombie?" However, once I hit that gym...

Total. Sweat. Fest!

And it felt so damned good that I couldn't stop smiling like a lunatic... I jumped on the spin bike and really dug in for 20 minutes- rotating standing and sitting, worked it out on the elliptical, and spent twenty five minutes enjoying EVERY minute of weight lifting. It felt awesome. I felt strong, accomplished, and BACK!

My knee held up just fine for the workout, however it was sore Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Much to my dismay, I followed my doctor's directions and stayed out of the gym and rested it. I did walk a lot though and watched my eating. (Watched it go on my fork and into my mouth!)  It's Monday today and I'm feeling much better, so tonight, granted that Cole is feeling good, I'm back in that gym... And Corey (the gym manager) better have a big mop, because I'm going to sweat all over that place! Details tomorrow!

Last night was the premiere of the Biggest Loser; did you watch? Thoughts? How did you feel about Nikki exiting stage left?

I picked up four fitness books that I'm just loving. Do you have recommendations for great fitness reads?

So glad for the news about your son! That's wonderful.

Very glad to hear about your sweat fest too. You work it girl!!

Finally - I watched the first 30 mins of TBL. I watched the one guy fall off the treadmill and the other guy puking and decided it's not for me. I've never really watched it before and find the high emotion a bit unsettling. : )

Hope you enjoyed it!

YAY COLE!! You must be so happy to see that port gone for good!!

What books are you reading? I have trouble finding fitness books that I feel like I can really use.

Keep sweating - you rock!!

Woohoo! You go girl! I need to muster up some motivation to get my butt to the gym too. I've been in a bad spot lately, and it makes it hard to work out.

As far as TBL, I don't watch, because I've researched that show, and those people aren't exactly losing weight healthfully. Sure they're "supervised", but they're also given diuretics and forced to starve before weigh-ins. It's a TV show after all, and ratings are higher the more weight that's lost. NO ONE should EVER lose weight the way those people do, it's simply unhealthy in the long term. Many contestants have long-term health issues as a result of that show (and Extreme Makeover: Body Edition).
